ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- – Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- – Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry and ongoing response.
- – Deploy internationally to disaster settings as part of the DART team, serving with fellow members to further Samaritan’s Purse’s mission.
- – Follow the policies and procedures of Samaritan’s Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
- – In collaboration with the WASH Program Manager, plan and facilitate the WASH activities in accordance with the DART Mandate.
- – Monitor and/or manage the implementation of the WASH activities for the response, ensuring humanitarian standards (Sphere, etc.), protocols and procedures are met.
- – Assist the WASH PM with the design, implementation and management of all WASH interventions (including, but not limited to water supply, sanitation management (latrines, etc.), hygiene education, and infection control).
- – Conduct routine WASH assessments to identify WASH needs at the project level, and make recommendations for response activities. Ensuring the WASH contribution to the development and planning of emergency response strategies and resources, in collaboration with all programs and the DART mandate.
- – Provide the WASH PM with equipment, supplies and tool needs ensuring the appropriate technical specifications.
- – Provide technical support to the medical team in identifying possible risk factors (e.g., behavioural practices, environmental sources of infection, and transmission routes) and offer solutions for infection control. Actively contribute to the integration of WASH activities in the medical intervention offering project proposals and work plans.
- – Ensure proper collection and daily reporting of WASH data to the Information Officer, coordinating with the Information Officer, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, and GIS Specialist.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- – Degree in engineering or an equivalent relevant training
- – WASH Training within Samaritan’s Purse
- – Previous experience in WASH in humanitarian disaster assistance or development work.
- – Minimum of 6 months of hands-on field experience in a humanitarian or international development setting.
- – Experience in, or familiarity with, implementing water supply, excreta disposal, latrine construction, waste and wastewater management, vector control, and dead bodies management within contexts of conflict, natural disasters, refugee/IDP camps, etc.
- – Public health background or experience.
- – Computer literacy.
- – People management and development.
- – Results and quality driven.
- – Team player.
