National Disaster Relief

Australia/New Zealand National Disaster Relief Program

Samaritan’s Purse is a second responder, deploying to disaster-affected communities when emergency services have declared the area safe. Our teams of volunteers equipped with tools, equipment and resources provide practical support and recovery assistance to affected families.

Fire Recovery Kit

Samaritan’s Purse is currently responding to bushfire affected regions in northern NSW.

A couple received a Fire Kit in Stanthorpe to help recover items in the aftermath of bushfires earlier this year.

We have assisted homeowners with debris removal and general property clearing, and have handed out Fire kits. The kit contains the following:
-Concrete Shovel
-Mouth Shovel
-Wrecking Bar
-Steel Claw Hammer
-Combination Pliers
-Leather Gloves
-Rubber Gloves
-Face Mask (x4)
-Round Plastic Basin
-Long Handle Landscape Rake
-Mattock with Cutter End
-Disposable Overalls
-Safety Specs (x2)

These kits help families clear property and find valuable items in the rubble.

You can help provide relief to those who have been impacted by the fires by donating $300 for a Fire Recovery Kit. Please click below to give today.

All volunteers must be registered before applying to deploy.

National Disaster Relief Unit (NDRU)
The NDRU (pictured above) is a mobile command centre from which we can effectively coordinate a deployment within a disaster affected community. The truck has its own water and power supply,  site office, workshop and is equipped with sufficient tools, equipment and materials for 60 to 80 volunteers.

Bushfire Recovery
Our bushfire recovery kits help families affected by bushfires to sift through the debris, find valuable items and personal belongings and begin the road to recovery.

Flood Recovery
Mud-out kits enable volunteer teams to mud-out a home affected by flooding. The kits protect volunteers and provide the tools to demolish waterlogged walls, remove wreckage and begin the work of restoring homes to a livable condition.

In partnership with local churches, we assist in providing a locally led recovery program in communities affected by disaster. To find out how your church can partner with Samaritan’s Purse National Disaster Relief please contact us.

Site Management Teams are groups of trained men and women who assist in coordinating a locally led response in disaster-affected communities.
